A Message From April Griffin

In the transformative year of 2011, I embarked on an odyssey that would redefine my understanding of the world, setting foot on the picturesque landscapes of Denmark—an extraordinary leap beyond the borders of the familiar, my homeland, the United States. In the face of pervasive fears fueled by cinematic tales of intrigue and danger, I consciously chose a different narrative, one painted by my own experiences rather than succumbing to the one-dimensional impressions delivered by media stereotypes.

 

To my astonishment, Denmark unfolded before me as a haven of safety, challenging the very foundations of my apprehensions, particularly in contrast to the busy streets of my hometown, Los Angeles, California. Armed with a mere $3000, a symbolic beacon of limited resources, I underwent the process of currency conversion, witnessing my financial palette transform into a robust 19000 Danish Kroners. Immersed in this foreign environment, I felt a profound sense of awe and wonder, expressing my experiences through poetry and heartfelt reflections, extending gratitude to the Most High for guiding my path.

 

With a new lens for humanity along with Denmark's societal standards became a catalyst for a significant shift in my perspectives, particularly in areas like education, healthcare, and their approach to homelessness. This experience marked the genesis of a transformative chapter in my life, one that defied conventional expectations and propelled me into a new, purpose-driven existence. Immersed in the diverse systems of various countries, I explored contrasting ways of life, from stress-free environments, like Denmark–to those marred by conflict, as seen in places like–Tel Aviv, Israel. I engaged in research, particularly in wind trading, and delved into collaborations with small businesses abroad–became an essential aspect of my exploration.

The profound recognition of cultural disparities and the nuanced interplay of choices and capabilities left an indelible mark on my perspective, revealing how these factors intricately shaped a country's overall performance. Therefore, upon my return, I plunged myself into the divine work for humanity, undertaking vigorous research and expanding my educational pursuits. The culmination of my efforts resulted in the creation of innovative programs, workshops, and novel concepts and tools such as–Human Development Perspective (HDP) and Human Development Index II (HDI2), all aimed at reshaping the world as I knew it. This post-Denmark phase became a period of profound contribution and dedication to fostering positive change on a national scale.
